Sustainable conferencing
Creating a sustainable conference is crucial in today’s world to reduce environmental impact and promote responsible practices. By integrating sustainable principles into every aspect of the event, we can minimise waste, conserve resources, and inspire attendees to adopt eco-friendly habits.
The ACEM ASM 2023 is making every effort to reduce the carbon footprint and ensure sustainability practices are being followed where possible:
Delegate Satchels
The Meeting will not offer delegate satchels to reduce our waste to landfill.
Name Badges
We encourage all delegates to return their name badges at the conclusion of the Meeting so that they can be repurposed for other events.
Meeting App
We are proud that our Meeting app includes all program and sponsorship information, reducing the need for printed programs. Our app allows delegates to engage across all aspects of the event including Q&A with session facilitators and connecting with one another. We highly encourage all delegates to download the app and kindly refrain from asking or accepting any printed documents.
Travel
There are lots of options out there for delegates travelling interstate or internationally to attend our conferences who want to offset CO2. Most airline companies offer this as part of their booking process.
Conference Venue: The National Convention Centre Canberra
NCCC is committed to continual improvement in environmental sustainability through meeting government and legislative requirements, and customer and employee expectations to reduce our impact on the environment.
Some initiatives include:
– Implementing sound environmental practices in our venue’s design, development and operation.
– Encouraging the development and integration of sustainable technologies.
– Unused food is donated to OzHarvest Food Rescue.
– Engaging customers, colleagues, Government, suppliers and contractors in our efforts to protect the environment.
– Including sustainability as a mandatory requirement in the NCCC’s orientation program for all staff.
NCCC is proud to be recognised as an accredited recycler 2022 under the Business Recycling Program in line with our commitment to sustainability as stated in the Environmental Policy Statement.
