BEST PAPER BY A TRAINEE
The Best Paper by a Trainee is awarded annually for a research study to a trainee. The winning trainee will receive a prize of AUD $1,000. Their paper is published in the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine Bulletin and posted on the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine website.
This prize will be presented at the 2023 ASM.
The Best Paper by a Trainee is scored based on the criteria with the award being presented to the winner at the conclusion of the meeting.
Trainees must indicate if they wish to be considered for Best Paper by a Trainee when submitting the abstract. Only abstracts accepted for oral presentation are eligible for this award.

Criteria
- The Best Paper by a Trainee utilises the 4.10 Trainee Research adjudicators to score the Trainee papers at the conference with the same criteria used for the Best Fellows’ Paper:

PREDICT AWARD IN PAEDIATRIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE

The PREDICT (Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative) network now provides a research platform for achieving multicentre acute care paediatric research in Australia and New Zealand. The successful recipient of the PREDICT Award will receive a monetary prize of AUD $500.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be trainee, medical student, or from allied health professions at the time of the presentation
- Research involves children < 17 years and performed primarily in an emergency department setting in Australia and or New Zealand

Awarded to the paper that best demonstrates closing an important gap between the best available evidence and current clinical practice. The successful recipient will receive a monetary prize of AUD $1,000. This award is open to FACEMS and Trainees provided their abstract fits the below criteria.
Eligibility
- Is the paper related to closing an important gap between the best available evidence and current clinical practice?
- Does the paper mention results of the practice change and how these were achieved or not?
- Does the paper mention barriers or enablers in implementing the practice change?
- Was implementation theory applied in the change process?

BEST PAPER BY A FELLOW

The Best Paper by a Fellow Award is only open to ACEM Fellows. The successful recipient will receive a certificate and monetary prize of $1,000, and the winner will be announced at the 2023 ASM. ACEM Fellows will be required to submit an abstract, whereby this will be reviewed and shortlisted. You will then be notified and given an allocated session within the program to present your paper, where you will be adjudicated during the session.

This is a peer reviewed award, whereby posters will be reviewed and voted on during the ASM. The successful recipient will receive a $500 Visa card. To be eligible of this award, the presenting author must be registered for, and attend the ASM.
